Fashion Public Relations Internship - Remote

Job Description

This role involves interviewing our lister companies and writing profiles of the company and/or founders as well as outreach to media and faculty at colleges with Fashion programs. Research Media outlets to have our founders interviewed. Contact colleges to schedule information sessions and guest lectures done by our founders. Write/edit press releases. Assist with creating and following through with company PR strategy. Assist with tracking outside media features to be uploaded in the Press section of the platform. Assist with editing and approving media from outside publications. Create connections with university fashion department's social media accounts. Assist with managing and updating media lists. A successful candidate will have strong writing and researching skills, and be self-motivated, articulate, and organized. The intern will have one-on-one working sessions with the founders, Tirsa Parrish and Marge Pietrera, and our executive editor and will gain hands-on experience in running a startup web platform. This position will allow the student to create and publish content in a professional forum. You will draw on your existing skill sets while we help you fine-tune your skills and grow in your interest field. This is an unpaid position. This Internship for academic credit provides credit for current university students following your university's guidelines.

To be eligible for this internship position, you must be enrolled in, planning to enroll, or accepted for enrollment in an academic internship course or experience recognition program through your college or university that will run concurrently with this internship opportunity.

Responsibilities

For our lister companies:

  • Independently interview.
  • Fact Check.
  • Create a well thought-out outline and drafts.
  • Meet with founder and/or Executive Editor via Zoom.
  • Write company/founder profiles.
  • Media and college outreach.
  • Create and maintain calendar of events.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Working towards a Fashion, Marketing, and/or Merchandising degree.
  • Other applicable majors like Journalism and Public Relations will be considered.
  • Must be good at asking questions and taking notes.
  • Strong follow-thru.
  • Must be able to take initiative on projects and work independently.
  • Strong interest in fashion.
  • Business acumen a plus.

Requirements

  • Proficient in Google Workspace
  • Knowledge of Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and TikTok content.
  • Pay: Unpaid, for College Credit/Academic Credit. This requires a concurrent internship class.
  • Job Duration: 12 weeks.
  • Schedule: Minimum of three days a week, flexible on days; at least 10 hrs/week meeting the requirements of your college/university.
  • Work Location: 100% Remote.
  • Education: (In college) Majoring in Fashion, Marketing, and/or Merchandising, or other relevant major (Journalism, Public Relations, etc.)

  • Ability to work 10 hours per week or as required by your school's internship program (flexible on days)

  • Awareness of current trends and fashion magazines.
  • Strong knowledge and familiarity of Fashion.

  • Must be good at asking questions and taking notes.
  • Strong follow-thru.
  • Must be able to take initiative on projects and work independently.
  • Prefer Proficiency with Photoshop, Canva, Illustrator, InDesign; Google Drive required.
  • Must be self-motivated, articulate, and organized.

The role is 100% remote and would be working directly with founders Tirsa Parrish and Marge Pietrera and/or the executive editor.
